TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Messrs Martineau & Reid, 2 Raymond Buildings, Gray's Inn, WC
Date29 April 1910
Description'Gentlemen,
Your letter of March 18th with regard to Mr Godman's intention to reduce his legacy to the Royal Society for the completion of his work Biologia Centrali Americana from £10,000 to £5,000 has been under the consideration of the Council of the Society at their meeting to-day. I am requested by them to say that they are still prepared to undertake the duty which Mr Godman desires to entrust to the Society of seeing that the work is properly completed, on the understanding that the expense of so doing is to be borne entirely by the Fund of £5,000 which Mr Godman proposes to leave by his Will for that purpose, and that in the event of the Fund proving to be insufficient there will be no claim on the Royal Society to complete the work.'
