Date24 May 1910
DescriptionWith reference Bradford previous letter asking for an extension of Captains Hanerton and Batemans stay in Uganda the Committee of the Royal Society have had under discussion the best means of maintaining continuity of the investigations. The Committee have furnished Dr Carpenter with instructions upon which he is about to embark to Uganda. Letter from Captain Hamerton at Mpumu indicate that a number of important experiments cannot be brought to a conclusion by the time these Officers will be leaving Uganda. The Committee request that, if possible, Lieutenant Fraser, RAMC, may be detailed to carry though these experiments.
The experiments concern the question of the duration of the infectivity of the fly which carries the parasites of Sleeping Sickness and of the discovery among the wild animals of a host for the parasite.
