Description'Sir,
I am directed by the President and Council of the Royal Society to transmit for the consideration of the Lords Commissioners of HM Treasury the Memorandum enclosed, which has been received from the Executive Committee of the National Physical Laboratory.
I am directed to state that in the opinion of the President and Council the application made in this Memorandum is an urgent one, in the public interest, with a view of retention of the services of Principal Assistants qualified by experience for the very responsible duties which fall to them in the Laboratory.'
