Date12 March 1910
Description'Gentlemen,
The Society has in its possession two metre standards in platinum which have been declared by the highest authorities to have no further value as standards in platinum which have been declared by the highest authorities to have no further value as standards, and the Council have instructed me to ascertain the selling value of the platinum of which they are made. I am therefore directed to ask if you would be so good as to inspect the standards in question with a view to reporting upon their value, and I shall be happy to show them to any representative of yours who may be able to call here for the purpose. In the event of your being willing to assist us in the matter it would be well perhaps to make an appointment with me for one morning next week.'
