Description'Sir,
I am directed by the President and Council of the Royal Society to acknowledge the receipt of Sir G Murray's letter (1025810) if June 28 authorising, on behalf of the Lords Commissioners of HM Treasury, that the salaries of four of the Principal Assistants at the National Physical Laboratory may rise to a maximum of £500 per annum, and to state that this decision will be transmitted to the Executive Committee of the Laboratory.
I am desired to state for the information of Their Lordships that the number of Principal Assistants at the Laboratory is now six, including one who was appointed a few months ago.'
