Description'Appointment of Assistant Director at Kodaikanal Observatory.
The Secretary of State for India desires the advice as to candidates suitable for consideration for the Assistant Directorship for the Kodaikanal Observatory; salary Rs 500-50-750 per mensem with free quarters. It is desired that the selected candidate should, if possible, join at Kodaikanal early next cold weather, so that he may learn the duties before Mr Michie Smith retires in January next. It had been decided that the Observatory is to be confined for the present to solar researches.
It is proposed that the Observatories Committee meet say on Oct 8 at 3 o'clock, if no objection is taken - members will probably be back then from Mount Wilson - to settle this matter, and to consider reports already circulated to the members.'
