TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Herbert Stansfield, 2 Brooklands Avenue, Withington
Date28 September 1910
Description'Dear Sir,
Your letter of yesterday to Sir Joseph Larmor has come into my hands, but I fear I can add little to the information you already have with regard to the vacant post of Assistant Director of Kodaikanal Observatory, now do I think that Sir Joseph Larmor has any other sources of information, even if he were in England.
The only official information in our hands is that the vacancy will arise in January next, that the salary is Rs.500, rising by 50 to 750 a month, with free quarters, and that it is desired that the selected candidate should, if possible, join at Kodaikanal early this cold weather so that he may have an opportunity of learning the duties of the post before the present Director retires. Sir Joseph Larmor is still in America and I do not know when he will be back.'
