In response to a request lately received from your officer I now have the honour to enclose a statement, accompanied by vouchers, of the expenditure amounting to £102. 5. 11 net incurred by the Royal Society during the current financial year in respect of the enquiry into Glassworkers' Cataract; and, with reference to the previous correspondence in which HM Government agreed to provide for expenses under this head to the amount of £500 in the year, I am to ask you to be good enough to arrange for a reimbursement to the Royal Society of the amount shown upon the enclosed [statement] account.'
