TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to Sir Ernest Shackleton
Date24 February 1911
DescriptionProfessor [Tannatt] Edgeworth David came by here bringing with him the manuscript and illustrations of his volume on the Geology of their Antarctic Expedition. Geikie was much impressed by the interest and value of the work, and thinks that it might be published without delay. The Council of the Royal Society yesterday agreed £200 to go towards the publication, on the understanding that publication will be made as soon as possible, and that the Royal Society is not to be considered in any way committed to any other part of the volume of their reports.

The present donation is an expression of the desire to see the valuable geological results of the expedition published without delay.
