| Description | The scheme of the National Physical Laboratory enacts that no retiring member of the General Board or of the Executive Committee shall be eligible for reappointment until at least one year has elapsed from the date of his retirement, unless, in the opinion of the President of the Royal Society, there are special reasons for them being retained. |
