TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Professor J [John] W [William] Mallet FRS
Date20 June 1911
Description'With reference to your letter of May 30, respecting the dispatch of [Philosophical] Transaction [of the Royal Society], enquiry was made of our printers, who reply as follows:-
"With reference to enclose letter from Prof Mallet, his name was originally on the Volume List, to be sent per Wesley and Son, and Smithsonian Institution. On April 6th 1909, it was transferred to the separate papers list and sent by post; then on Jan 12 1910 it was transferred back to the Volume List. Apparently the fact that it had previously been sent through the Smithsonian Institution was overlooked and the Volumes were sent by post. We have now put the matter right on our list".
I much regret that you should have been put to the inconvenience that has resulted from the overlooking of the regular mode of despatch, and trust it will not happen again.'
