| Description | 'In reply to your letter of the 19th instant the eligibility of an inventor's daughter for relief from the Scientific Relief Fund administered by the Royal Society depends entirely upon whether he can properly be described as a "scientific man", the fund being established for the "relief of scientific men and their families". Evidence on this point would have to be forthcoming and any application would have to receive the recommendation of the President of one of certain scientific societies.
