| Description | It is the practice of the Royal Society to obtain confidential opinions from its Fellows upon papers submitted to the Society for reading and publications. The Standing Orders, however, allow for a referee not to be a Fellow if there are special reasons.
A paper has been received lately on a special branch of geology, and it is the opinion of the Chairman of the Sectional Committee and of the Biological Secretary of the Society have special reasons for appealing to a geologist outside the Society for an opinion upon it. In these circumstances Harrison is directed to ask Spencer to give the Society the benefit of his opinion. |
