TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to The Under Secretary of State, Colonial Office
Date27 June 1911
Description'With reference to your letter of March 31st (8215/1911) and subsequent correspondence, the Royal Society has received the enclosed request from Colonel Sir David Bruce for the services of Staff-Sergeant Gibbons and ex-Military Clerk, James Wilson, on the Commission which is about to be despatched to Nyasaland [Malawi] for further investigation of Sleeping Sickness problems.
The Royal Society is of opinion that Sir David Bruce should have all the assistance he requires for the investigation he is to direct in Nyasaland [Malawi] and considers his request a reasonable one. I am therefore to express the hope that the Secretary of State will see his way to approach the War Office with a view to securing the services of the persons named for the work of the Commission.'
