Description'The Royal Society desires to make a gift of 59 volumes of one of its scientific publications - the "Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]", to the Vatican Library, and has been informed that if addressed in accordance with the enclosed label, the parcels will reach their destination duty free.
In the circumstances mentioned, may I ask whether it would be convenient and agreeable if we consigned the parcels (carriage paid) to the Italian Embassy, with the view of their despatch from thence to the Vatican Library in safety.' [no enclosure]
