Description'In reply to your letter of September 26 in which you state that your brother anticipated the conclusions arrived at by Professor Brodie and described by him in the Croonian lecture, I have to state that the Society is not responsible for the views enunciated by those making communications before it, and that it is an established rule of the Society never to give an opinion as a body upon any controversial subject that may arise connected with papers accepted for publication.'
