Description'I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of yesterday's date, and to thank you for your courtesy in giving the Royal Society permission to reproduce your portrait of the late Sir William Huggins in our "Proceedings [of the Royal Society]" with payment of fee.
I think that it is only right to inform you, however that though the "Proceedings" is purely scientific journal issued primarily for the Fellows of the Society, yet to certain marks of copies of cash number (amounting to about 150) are on sale to the public. The majority if these copies are purchased by scientific institutions.'
