TitleCopy letter from Robert William Fredercik Harrison to George H [Howard] Darwin, KCB, FRS
Date10 November 1911
Description'There seems to have been some misunderstanding about the obituary notice of Sir Francis Galton which I cannot explain. Sir Joseph Larmor tells me that you say you have not been asked to write it. All I know is that the resolution of Council in January last was that the preparation of the notice should be assigned to you if you would undertake it, and in the book in which we record these notices your name is duly entered as having undertaken to write it. It is true I can find no copy of a letter to you asking you to undertake the duty; but frequently these invitations to write obituary notices have been made the subject of personal communications between Officers of the Society and te Fellows. On any case I am now instructed to ask you officially to favour the Society with an obituary notice of Sir Francis Galton and express the hope that you will undertake the duty.'
