TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie to George Chrystal
Date10 November 1911
Description'I think it may be a gratification to you and the rest of the late Professor Chrystal's family to know that His Majesty the King has approved of the recommendation of your father's name for the award of a Royal Medal, and that in his letter signifying the Royal approval, the Keeper of the Privy Purse adds the following words:- "The King trusts that you will be so good as to convey to the family the assurance of His Majesty's sincere sympathy in the terrible loss that they have sustained, through which so distinguished a career has been brought to a close".
May I add on my own personal sympathy with you and the family. I deeply mourn the loss of my old colleague and friends.'
