TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Horace Hart
Date23 January 1912
Description'Record of the Royal Society.
On receiving the first corrections of the slip proofs of the Register of Fellows from the Fellow RS who complied the earlier years, I find that he takes exception to the repetition of the dates for each entry, and proposes that we should print only dots or commas in every case of repetition, whether of month or day. I shall consult the PResident about this tomorrow, as he is the ultimate authority for editing this publication; but in the meantime write at once to warn you to hold your hand in composing these lists until you hear finally from me; so as to avoid more correction than is necessary. The print did not arise upon the first specimen slips you sent in for style, because I think no repetitions occurred on the first two slips.
One other point: would you instruct your compositors to substitute the words "afterwards" throughout the fist for "since", where that correction has not been already made in the copy. Thus Henry Howard afterwards (not since) Duke of Norfolk. I am sorry to bother you with all this correspondence; but quote hominess £c £c.'
