Description'I have been directed by the President and Council to invite you to deliver the annual Croonian before the Society on a subject connected with the Physical Processes underlying Excitation: and in the event of you accepting the invitation I shall be glad to learn at your earliest convenience the precise title of your lecture and the date on which it would be most convenient for you to deliver it to the Society.
It is usual to fix the Croonian lecture for some Thursday after Easter, and the following dates are at present available for the purpose:- May 2, 9, 16, 23 and June 6.
I am to add for your information that the year's income of the Croonian Fund amounting to about £55 is handed over as a feww to the lecturer.'
