DescriptionUnder the direction of the Joint Committee of the Royal Society and the Royal Astronomical Society an expedition will be sent to Brazil to observe the Eclipse of next 10 October. The party will consist of two members of the staff of the Royal Observatory of Greenwich, A S Eddington and C Davidson, and a third observer, J J Atkinson, may possibly join the expedition. They will be taking with them valuable instruments, and it will be of great advantage if they were allowed to be taken into the country free of customs duty, a certificate of re-exportation being given if necessary.

Hopes H M Government will assist in this matter. The party will travel by the R M S 'Arlazna', and will disembark at Rio de Janiero on 16 September.
