| Description | Their letter of 15 July, enclosing an extract from the report of the Royal Commission on Malta Fever 1911, and a copy of the minutes of the Tropical Diseases Research Fund Advisory Committee, was laid before the Tropical Diseases Committee of the Royal Society last week. They unanimously decided that:
1. Further investigation into the Mediterranean Fever is desirable.
2. Subject to the concurrence of the Council of the Royal Society, the Tropical Diseases Committee would be willing to undertake the supervision of the investigation.
3. A bacteriologist should be specially appointed for the purposes of the investigation in addition to the officers lent for the enquiry by the government.
4. The Committee found it difficult to lay down precise limits to the time over which the investigation is likely to extend, but they were of the opinion that it is likely to be a difficult one.
5. It will cost no less than £1500 per annum to provide a salary for the bacteriologist. |
