Description'The Council have had before them letters from the Treasury, of which I send you copies enclose, relating to (1) the change of the financial year of the National Physical Laboratory and (2) Lord Rayleigh's term of office as Vice Chairman of the General Board and the Executive Committee.
With regard to the last paragraph of the second letter under reference, the Council passed a resolution recommending the Lord Rayleigh's renomination for the office of Vice Chairman be for the full period of six years.
I believe you have already been informed that the Iron and Steel Institute have nominated Sir Hugh Bell to fill the vacancy on the General Board created by the Royal Society having adopted Sir Robert Hadfield as their own nominee.'
