Description'I am directed to inform you that Mr Eddington's letter of December 16 relating to the appointment of a Chairman and Secretary and the rotation of membership of the Joint Permanent Eclipse Committee, was laid before the Council of the Royal Society at their meeting last week, when they expressed a general approval of the arrangements proposed, and appointed the Astronomer Royal to be Chairman of the Committee for the ensuing year.'
