TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Dr C [Charles] Chree FRS
Date21 February 1913
Description'Esdalemuir Vacancy.
I consulted Professor Schuster about your letter of February the 18th, and we came to the conclusion that it would be so difficult to formulate an enquiry as to the general fitness of a man for the post and to judge of the replies, that Professor Schuster thought it was hardly worth attempting, especially as he and Dr Shaw had agreed that four of the Candidates with fairly obvious superior claims should be asked to confer personally with the Committee. These four I have written to invite to the meeting next wednesday: they are Kleeman, Richardson, Rudge and Eagle. I will, however, make a point of asking Dr Bruce, whom I have to write to today on other business, for the further particulars you mention about Mossman.
I sent you immediately on receipt of your letter a copy of the particulars of the post supplied to Candidates: these were the regulations settled by the Sub-Committee, appointed by the Gassiot Committee at their last meeting, and they will have to be reported to the Committee next week.
If you know of any other business that ought to be laid before the Committee, I should be much obliged by your letting me have it early in the week.'
