TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison to Professor W [William] J [Jackson] Pope FRS
Date28 February 1913
Description'The Council yesterday had before them an application from Professor Armstrong for an emergency grant of £50 for the purpose mentioned in his letters, which I enclose. The one marked "private" was addressed to Professor Schuster but he authorises me to send it to you in confidence.
The Council were willing to make a grant of £50 from the Donation Fund, subject to your opinion that the value of the investigation proposed is such as to deserve encouragement to that extent. They also made it a condition of giving a grant that a sufficient amount should be subscribed from other sources to secure the completion of the investigation described. If you will be good enough to give your opinion on this question at your earliest convenience we shall be in a position to send a decision to Professor Armstrong.'
