TitleCopy letter from Arthur Schuster, to Dr [James Hopwood] Jeans, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date5 June 1913
DescriptionAsks for advice on the subject of a paper by Professor Wilson which Schuster is forwarding. Sir Joseph Larmor has looked through the paper and his note is also being sent. On reading the paper the weak points seemed to be that a composite medium consisting of beeswax with steel spheres embedded was treated as being homogenous and possessing magnetic permeability while at the same time insulating electrically. It seems that that was begging the whole question. Wilson is away and sending the paper back to him would be considerable delay, but it seems that cannot be helped.
