Date4 July 1913
DescriptionAdverting to recent correspondence on the subject of furthr entomological investigation in connection with the enquiry into Trypanosome dieseases in Africa, a suggestion has been made to the Tropical Diseases Committee of the Royal Society that the services of Mr W F Fiske should be secured for the prosecution of researches.

After a preliminary negotiation the Committee have been informed that Fiske would be willing to undertake such an enquiry on the terms submitted to him. The Committee have therefore resolved to recommend that Fiske be commissioned to conduct an investigation in to the bionomics of glossina in Africa, the first part of the investigation being carried out in Uganda. That his appointment be on the same conditions as those of the members of the Nysaland commission. That he be paid at the rate of £500 per anuum, receiving free passage out and back, and allowances similar to those made to the Nysaland commission. The he be responsible for the conduct of the investigation to the Committee, to which he is expected to report.

The Committee hopes that the Secretary of State will afford facilities, and that necessary expenditure will be provided out of the funds at the disposition of the Colonial Office.
