Description	Geikie cannot say how annoyed he is at having to miss the meeting of the Antarctic Expedition which has been summoned. There is one matter which he is sorry for not being able to pass for consideration to those who will allocate the funds - the necessity of reserving a sufficient sum for the adequate publication of the scientific results of the Terra Nova expedition. The Physical Volumes alone of the Discovery expedition cost the Royal Society £4000 alone. The Natural History volumes were brought out by the trustees of the British Museum. Geikie learns from Dr Atkinson, of [Robert Falcon] Scott's staff, as well as Lady Scott and Mrs Wilson that the observations and material collected by the Terra Nova far surpass in amount and importance those of the Discovery. He does not think it wise to apportion less than £10,000 for the publication of the scientific work. It is eminently desirable, it is what Scott and his companions would have desired above all, after provisions were made for their families. It would be the most appropriate memorial.
