Description | The Secretaries acknowledge the letter from the Colonial Office of yesterday relating to the investigations now in progress in Nyasaland [Malawi], and to the proposal of the Secretary of State to form a special Committee to discuss the question of the destruction of the game in fly areas. The letter will be laid before the Tropical Diseases Committee in due course.
In the meantime, Harrison has been directed to say that the Royal Society concurs in the desirability of requesting Sir David Bruce to come to England without delay for the purposes of serving on the proposed Committee, and in the despatch of the telegram to him to that effect. It is also to be worded to make it clear to Bruce that he is not recalled from the Commission, and to request him to make the best arrangements possible for the continuance during his absence of the observations and experiments which are now in progress under his direction.
Also acknowledges the receipt of the letter from Staff Surgeon Tante which they returned, and of a copy of the correspondence with the British South Africa Company relating to the possibility of a game destruction experiment in Rhodesia [Zimbabwe]. |
