Title | Copy letter from Herbert Rix, to Messrs Foord & Dickinson, Wardour Street |
Date | 4 December 1891 |
Description | Rix explains that in July 1887 a portrait of Sir John Chardin was presented to the Royal Society, and having been shown to the Council, was immediately sent away for restoration to the frame and cleaning of the picture. They strongly believe it to have been sent to the firm of Messrs Foord & Dickinson, and so Rix writes to ask if they have it amongst their lost property. He further notes that wherever it was sent, it was not returned to them, and that it was a good sized oil painting. |
