| Description | Rix encloses a specimen leaf for Heaviside's approval. He explains that the printers decided against the process of justification of the text, as it would not be safe to use with so much black type, and describes the process where the type is wedged with snips of lead-foil and paper to make it range with other different type. He notes that the high risk of displacement is serious in mathematical work.
Rix explains that they will therefore cast the type for his paper, and insists that this being the case, he should not hesitate to let them know if the specimen supplied is not satisfactory, and they will try again. He also asks if the fractions in formula 137 are as he would like, and asks whether the type should be smaller compared to the type used elsewhere. |
