TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster, [Royal Society]
Date30 January 1892
DescriptionRix communicates that Major General Scott's address is 86 Cornwall Gardens, and that Foster's instruction to return Mr Hankin's paper to Professor Roy has been noted.

The question of annuities from the Scientific Relief Fund is reported as having been discussed at the last Committee meeting, where Rix told them that there was no written rule prohibiting the granting of annuities. Rix states that it is a tradition of the committee not to grant annuities, though a grant has been annually renewed in a few cases in recent years. He further suggests there is less need for adhering to the tradition now, as the income is larger than it was two or three years ago, currently standing at 640 pounds per annum. The sum is not enough to grant many annuities without reducing their ability to help those in need of temporary relief. Rix states that the written rules have been in force since 1859.
