Description | Rix replies to Burfield's note to state that she is slightly older than he thought, and as a consequence it may not be worth her while to travel to the Royal Society for what they will offer her. He asks that she let them know what she thinks, and if she does not care to take on the role they can find someone younger who would like to come.
He explains that the work would include cutting the leaves of books and easy English copying, for which she would be paid seven shillings a week to begin with. More difficult work and higher pay might be available if she works well. Burfield would work under a lady, and the engagement would initially be only for one month, with the engagement to then be terminated or confirmed. Rix asks that she give her answer by 2 April. |
