TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Sir William Thomson, President of the Royal Society, 137 Ebury Street
Date15 May 1891
DescriptionRix forwards letters for Thomson, which were placed on the mantelshelf the previous day; he regrets that he did not notice until that morning that they had not been taken.

He also notes that a letter arrived that morning from the Admiralty, addressed to Thomson, asking for a suggestion to steady the compasses in a certain vessel. Rix will assume it is official and reserve until the next Council day unless he hears otherwise. He has also ordered the printers to send Thomson a new proof in the course of that day.
