TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to James Tennent, 93 Hope Street, Glasgow
Date25 June 1891
DescriptionRix responds to Tennent's letter of 17 June to state that the newspaper article he enclosed is as inaccurate as such articles normally are. He clarifies that the Copley Medal is not exclusively for discoveries connected with heat and light, and carries an annual rather than biennial grant of money. The Rumford Medal is, however, awarded biennially, but carries no grant, and is given for discoveries in heat and light. Rix reflects that the writer has mixed up the two medals.
