TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Messrs Keen & Drake, 41 Bedford Row, W.C.
Date3 July 1891
DescriptionRix, is now able to respond to their letter of 30 June, having submitted it to John Evans, the Royal Society Treasurer. Evans wishes the annexes to be done in addition to the large library, and he notes that Mr Lindfield, in a recent interview with Rix, promised to include these in his estimate of 240 pounds. Evans also wishes for the Dunesco washable distemper to be be used, and Lindfield believes an additional expenditure of two to three pounds will cover the cost. For such a small expense Evans prefers to authorise this by his personal responsibility rather than take a supplementary vote in Council.

Rix states that the contract should be proposed in the name of Evans on the Society's part. He further notes that Lindfield considers it to be a two month job, and Rix suggests that it should take no longer as they begin to become busy again towards the end of September. Rix suggests that if Keen & Drake consider this to be too long, they should arrange with Lindfield to shorten it. He also mentions that Lindfield would prefer to begin on 13 July, and that they are ready to agree. The latest date to begin should be 20 July, as Rix would like work to be fairly advanced by the time he leaves town on 1 August.
