| Description | Rix notes that they sent two proof plates to the Royal Society about which they knew nothing, and which they were later informed were the plates of Professor William Crawford Williamson. He has discovered that the arrangement by which the plates were begun prior to the paper being accepted by the Society was private and unofficial, and undertaken at Williamson's own risk.
As they sent the proofs to the Society, Rix feels it necessary to explain the situation, and emphasise that the transaction is between them and Williamson. The manuscript of the paper has not yet been received, and they know nothing of it in the Society office. |
