TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to William Henry Christie, Fellow of the Royal Society, Astronomer Royal
Date5 October 1891
DescriptionRix states that Charles Todd, the Government Astronomer in South Australia has not paid his annual contribution to the Royal Society, and if he does not pay by the end of the month he will cease to be a Fellow. Concerned that the notice will not arrive in time, Rix asks if Christie knows of any personal friends of his in Britain who might be approached with the suggestion that they advance the money on his behalf. He does not like it when men are noted as defaulters through a 'mere slip of memory'.
