Rix summarises the earlier case of the Congress of Hygiene and Demography who did not pay anyone at the Society, despite the fact that the charwoman had to arrive early every morning to keep up with 'the dirt they made', Mrs Kennedy made teas, and Mr Kennedy was occupied during both his regular working hours and into the evening. Kennedy is said to have sent in a claim, which has been ignored, with Rix terming this 'exceedingly mean'. |
