DescriptionFoster explains that, in response to an appeal from the London County Council, the Royal Society have undertaken to inquire into the vitality of micro-organisims in water, and they would like Ward and Percy Frankland to operate the inqury. He also notes the enclosure of the copy of Council minutes which explain themselves, and Frankland's letter, which is to be returned to Herbert Rix.

Foster asks, if Ward agrees to the work, that he write to Frankland at Dundee to begin the inquiry. He further notes that he will be in town the following Monday, and so could see Ward between 12 and 1pm, or between 7 and 9pm.
