Date29 October 1891
DescriptionRix asks, in relation to his letters of 5 December 1888, 31 May 1889 and 21 January 1891, whether he has been correctly informed that the Commissioners of the Inland Revenue have made a decision regarding whether the Scientific Relief Fund might be exempt from taxation; whether the question about the liability of the Royal Society for taxation under schedule A on £1050, although they were inhabiting a building which was Crown propety and without payment of rent, is also decided; and whether in the case of the Commissioners and John Forrest, Secretary of the Institute of Civil Engineers, the Society is entitled to a further claim for return of Income Tax based on Dividends forming a part of the Society's income, and if so, what claim the Society is entitled to make.
