| Description | Sir David Bruce has arrived recently in London, and the Commission appointed in May 1911 to carry out an enquiry into the relation of the African fauna to Trypanosome diseases in Nyasaland [Malawi] have completed the experimental portion of the enquiry. The preparation of the report will take some time, and Bradford is therefore requesting on behalf of the Tropical Diseases Committee that it may be possible for Bruce's services to be retained by the Colonial Office for such a period, estimated at no less than three months. Bruce is entitled to some 80 days leave, and it would be more convenient to him, if it was deferred to the later summer months.
Considering the nature of the work, and the fact that much of it would have to be done in a foreign country, it is possible that it might be necessary to impose some restrictions on the carrying out of the investigations; these would take the form of special instructions to the officer in charge. |
