TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Sir William Crookes, President of the Royal Society
Date8 June 1914
DescriptionThe present position of the Sorby Fellowship vacancy is that the full particulars of the applications received are in the hands of the several members of the Committee to whom the subjects of the proposed researches are appropriate for examination, excepting those for researches in physics and physiology, which have already been examined by Professors Hicks and Macdonald at Sheffield, and those for geology, for which there is no member of the Committee to appeal to while there is no authority for sending these applications outside the Committee.

If Crookes thinks it fit for his position as President, and Chairman of the Committee, to refer these for an opinion to some official geologist, such as the Director of the Survey, not likely to be biased in the matter Harrison can direct. All the necessary information should be available before the end of the month.

Trusts that the sudden cold has not brought any relapse to Lady Crookes.
