TitleCopy letter from [Dukinfield Henry] Scott, to The First Secretary, The Belgian Legation, 15 West Halkin Street, S.W.
Date2 November 1914
DescriptionAt a meeting of the Council of the Royal Society a resolution was passed instructing Scott to trace any Professors, teachers or other workers in science who may have sought refuge in England from Belgium in consequence of the action of the enemy in that country. The Royal Society is anxious to do all in its power to have such of these gentlemen as have not already received special consideration brought into relation with those who would be ready and willing to aid them in any way possible in the distressing circumstances.

It is hoped they are within the shelter of universities already, but there may be many whose presence is not known. Requests a list of the Belgian men of science who are now in the United Kingdom with a view to ascertaining if they are being cared for.
