DescriptionThe Royal Society have appointed a Committee to organize assistance to the government in conducting or suggesting scientific investigations in relation to the war. The Committee is to consist of: Sir William Crookes, Professor [Arthur] Schuster, [William du Bois] Duddell, Sir Alfred Ewing, Dr [Richard Tetley] Glazebrook, Admiral Sir Henry Jackson, Sir Oliver Lodge, Sir William Ramsay, Lord Rayleigh, Sir Edward Thorpe, with power to add to their number.

Should the object of the Committee be approved, they propose tot:

1. Conduct researches as might assist the government in the prosecution of the war or in assisting the manufactures of the country, and to communicate the results of such researches.
2. Carry out investigations referred to them by the government.
3. Give expert advice on any auggestions which may reach the government from independent sources and, if advisable, carry out experimental investigations in connection with the same.

Schuster would like to know whether these objects commend themself.
