TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, Assistant Secretary of the Royal Society to Sir Alfred Bray Kempe, Treassurer of the Royal Society
Date18 May 1915
Description'I beg now to report that (1) The whole collection of rare books contained in the special case in the library have been taken out and packed in boxes and placed in the position in the basement store room indicated by the Clerk of the Works (HMOW) as the safest.
(2) All the principal manuscripts have been taken out of the glass case in my office and stowed in the strong room in the basement.
(3) A selection of what I believe to be the most valuable pictures have been taken down from the walls and stacked in the place in the basement, indicated above, as the safest. There still remain a number of pictures of the walls upon which I should be glad to have your opinion as regards their removal.'
