TitleCopy letter from William Bate Hardy, Vice PResident of the Royal Society to Sir T W Holderness KCSI, KCB
Date26 May 1915
Description'My Harrison has passed on to me your letter and the enclosures which concern Professor Bose.
I have discussed the question whether the Royal Society should give an opinion as to the value of Dr Bose's scientific work with the other OFficers, and we have come to the conclusion that it is undesirable. The Indian Government could however get what it wants if it would consult the Chairmen of the Committees of the Royal Society which have special cognizance of the work of Professor Bose. I have no doubt that those gentlemen in their individual capacity will be willing to express an opinion. Their names are: Professor J B Farmer, Chairman of the Botany Committee, and Professor W M Bayliss, Chairman of the Physiology Committee.
If you wish it I will pass on your enclosures to those gentlemen and ask them to reply directly to you.'
