Description | 'With reference to your letter of the 27th instant and previous correspondence on the subject of Health Insurance contributions in respect of Miss Barnard and Miss Harkness, I have looked into the matter and so far I understand it would appear that Insurance cards were taken out by the two ladies mentioned under a misapprehension, neither of them being on the regular staff of the Society. Both of them have done and do from time to time revising work in connection with the preparation of a catalogue of scientific papers which is being published for the Society by the Cambridge University Press; but they are not paid regular salaries, the operation of the Insurance Act as employees of the Society. Others who are employed and paid as regular members of the staff engaged on the Catalogue are duly returned as insured persons.' |
